What is the Hair Transplantation?

Hair transplantation is a surgical technique that removes hair follicles from one part of the body, called the ‘donor site’, to a bald or balding part of the body known as the ‘recipient site’.

Hair transplantation is applied in case of hair loss that develops with androgenic alopecia (hormonal).

What are the Expected Benefits of the Application?

The aim of this surgery is to achieve a better appearance than the current situation by transplantationing as much as possible to the areas where hair is destroyed or reduced. It is often impossible to achieve a look with a bushy hair structure without any hair loss. The result that can be achieved depends on the thickness, shape, color of your hair strands and the amount of hair loss as well as the success of the surgical method. 2nd or 3rd session operation may be required to achieve the best result.

What are the Periods and Stages of the Application?

The process takes 3-6 hours. The photos of the application area are taken before and after the application. The local anesthesia is applied to the area where the application is to be performed and the area is anesthetized, after waiting for a while, the area is cleaned with a special antiseptic liquid. The hair strands taken from the nape area according to the technique are appropriately transplantationed to the missing head hair area. After the application, medical dressing and bandaging processes are performed. The head wrap will stay for 1 day. Head bandage will remain for 1 day. This first hair transplantationed will fall out within 1 month.

The new hair will begin to grow after 3-4 months.

Who should Avoid from the Application?

It is not applied to those with active wounds or infections in the area to be treated, those who are pregnant, and those with blood coagulation disorders. It is not applied to those with precancerous skin lesions.

What should be Considered Before the Application?

Last in 5 days do not consume ginko biloba, vitamin B12, vitamin E, folic acid, omega 3 supplements, blood diluent drugs (aspirin, plavix, kumadin) green tea, painkillers and rheumatic drugs. Do not consume alcoholic beverages before the procedure. Since it is openable shirt should be worn.

What are the Reactions that can Occur?

Redness, stinging sensation, crusting, sensitivity, acne may occur in the application area. There may be headache, facial oedema.

Wound healing problem may occur in the donor area in the neck due to wound infection and similar reasons. However, the probability of this type of problem is low due to the good blood supply of the scalp and even if it does, it will recover easily. Although the hair of the person varies according to the skin type, some of the transplantationed hair may not hold. Accordingly, some traces of planting sites can be seen.  However, this problem does not affect the general appearance of the person.

What are the Points to be Considered after the Application?

 

After the application, antibiotics, cortisone, painkillers and similar drugs recommended by the doctor should be used without interruption, medical dressing and bandage should be applied regularly.

The skin must be protected from the sun for 15 days following the application. Do not wash for 1 day. Lying position for the application day is recommended as an angle of 45 degrees. It should not be washed with very hot water for 1 week. PRP treatment is recommended 1 month after the procedure.
