What is Thulium Laser?

Thulium Laser is a new generation fractional laser with 9127 mm wavelength used in the medical aesthetics field. It opens micro-channels on the skin without stripping the epidermal tissue by affecting both the upper layer and lower layer of the skin. It protects the healthy tissue while affecting the damaged skin. Thus, skin tissue that remains intact creates new tissue and Thulium Laser reduces damaged and aged part of the skin in every session.

What are The Periods and Stages of Thulium Laser?

In the sessions which take approximately 30-45 minutes, the device is adjusted according to skin type and problem. Firstly, the skin is cleaned, since the laser may be harmful for the eyes, protective goggles are worn, and the application starts. Then the application is completed by rubbing skin soothing cream and sunscreen cream.

 

 Who Should Avoid From Thulium Laser?

Thulium Laser is not applied to those with an active wound or infection in the area to be treated, people with skin cancer, those who use anticoagulant medicine (blood coagulation inhibitors), those who are pregnant, use medicine for acne and skin treatment (the active substance is isotretinoin, etc.), in the areas with herpes (herpes disease) and people with precancerous skin lesion.

 

What are the Points to Be Considered Before and After Thulium Laser Application?

It’s recommended to come without makeup before Thulium Laser procedure. Creams containing glycolic acid should not be used at least 2 weeks before the procedure and skin peeling procedures such as scratching, and peeling should not be done. The treated area should not be exposed to water for 24 hours after the application and skin should not be exposed to the sunlight for the next 1 month, high-factor sunscreen creams should be used. The point shells that may form on the area where the application is made should not be peeled and it should be expected to spill automatically. The creams recommended by the specialist must be used for the indicated periods. Lying position for the application day is recommended as an angle of 45 degrees due to the complication of oedema. Makeup should not be done for 1 week after application and the skin should not be washed with very hot water. Creams containing glycolic acid should not be used for 2 weeks after the application as before, procedures such as scratching, peeling should not be done.

 

What Are the Side Effects of Thulium Laser Application?

Swelling, oedema, redness, burning sensation, stretching of the skin, colour change are the short-term side effects that can occur. The healing process is 5-7 days after the application and this can be prolonged in deeper treatments. Redness, burning, stinging pain, oedema, crusting and sensitization can be seen in the application area. These complications pass within 7-10 days depending on the skin type.
